It is the most wide-ranging classification, where the merchandise demands no specific handling conditions, determined storage areas or specialized labor force. These products do not represent any health or safety risk either life decay restrictions,  therefore the most common way of transportation used is by ocean. 
There are two forms in which general cargo is transported in international logistics; in individual packages or boxes, and in organized and unified structures such as pallets and containers. The commodities are subject to the correspondent storage systems which must fit to the characteristics of the product, regarding weight, shape and dimensions. This is necessary for operational purposes and for guaranteeing its protection during all times.
